I have both good and bad comments about Ciba’s Focus Dailies.
First the good. I think it’s wonderful that contact lens users like me finally have an alternative to the maintenance-heavy long-wearing contact lenses that are so hard to clean. The fact that this alternative provides the utmost in comfort makes it even more wonderful. And the best part of all is the price. Ciba’s one-daily disposable soft contact lenses – Focus Dailies – are priced so reasonably, you almost won’t believe they’re that comfortable to wear.
Moreover, they provide an alternative even for those who suffer from astigmatism or who have to wear bifocals. They also help allergy-prone users to go through the day normally without having to keep removing their contact lenses to soak and clean them.
Life is so much simpler and convenient with Ciba’s Focus Dailies contacts.
The problem with them though is they are too flimsy. This makes them so difficult to handle. Putting them on can be such a feat of one hand desperately trying to keep the eye open while the other gingerly trying to make sure the lens does not fall off in a crumpled bunch.
It’s also very hard to tell which side is the correct side with these lenses. Until they’re in your eye and you start having problems with your vision, you won’t know. They’re also so thin, which makes them so wonderful to use, but so difficult to remove at the end of the day.
In fact, at the end of 12 to 14 hours of wear, you start feeling the lens getting heavy on your eyes. It starts to feel so dry that it can take a while for you to be able to safely take it off.
These negative observations though stem from actual personal experiences with using the lens and are totally subjective. Another user may have a different experience.
Over-all though, having lenses that you can just toss out at the end of each long day’s use so you can start with a fresh pair in the morning is so wonderful. Not to have to lug around bottles of maintaining solution makes it even greater. These features are significant to someone like me who does a lot of traveling for my work. If these mean something to you, too, as a lens user, then I definitely recommend Focus Dailies contacts. The negative opinions are just not enough to make you not want to take advantage of the good things that go with this type of contact lens.
